Round Round Round Round... I Get Around... ALMOST!!

Sassy Miss Charlotte,
You have earned an update.  You change every day as mobility draws nearer and nearer.  You are a pro in your walker, scooting yourself gleefully around the kitchen and living room, tackling the large obstacles that hinder you from reaching your destination.  You pause to grasp the baby locks on the cabinets and to pull on tablecloths, be chatted to by your sister, and this morning, I caught you heartily laughing at the couch.  Nearly everything makes you laugh and coo.  You "talk" a lot, no real words yet..mostly you say "AHhhhh Ehhhhhhh Ahhhh" which eventually turns into frustrated tears, since you are so close to crawling but so far away from the object you are trying to grab.
You "swim" in place.  Generally, I will sit you up (you sit by yourself fairly well now, but you still always flop over eventually) and you eventually fall over.. hopefully with a soft surface under you.  then you roll onto your belly.  You look up, get your bearings, and prop yourself up on your arms with your feet off the ground.  Then you swim and swim and swim.  Sometimes around in circles, sometimes scooting yourself backwards, and sometimes, after a few minutes, you inch forward and victoriously grasp your toy!!
Last week,I saw you get up on your hands and knees twice, but each time only for a second.  You are close, little one.  Your reachable world will soon become much bigger as you begin to wiggle and crawl forward.
Your eyes seem to have changed again!  They are a bewitching hazel blue.  I have never seen eyes like yours, little love!
They are a dark blue with a delicate brown ring circling your iris like fire.  Beautiful!  It makes sense too, since mine are a hazel green and daddy's eyes are blue.
I am in love with your baby scent.  You smell like soap, milk, and sugar.  This might not sounds delicious to you, but it is irreplaceable and precious to me.
I am having trouble with you at night because you wiggle around in a circle in your crib and often get your chunky little leg stuck in between the crib slats- tightly!  It doesn't seem to do any damage, but I am sure it is uncomfortable.  I go in to check on you now more iften to make sure your leg is not stuck, and I inevitably wake you up.(Sigh!) :)
You were in your first fashion show on Friday night with Grandma Sawyer and were so cute!  We spent last weekend with your Grandma and Grandpa Hatch and you became acquainted with their cat, Molly.
Daddy and I have been discussing how it is time to de-dustbunny the house and deep clean the rugs, since you will soon be on the move!  I look forward to meeting the challenge!

Love You Sweets,
Mama.

Your First Easter

Dear Sweet Baby Charlotte,

Your first Easter was spring perfection.

Saturday afternoon, Daddy played his annual spring concert at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, which was absolutely beautiful.

On Saturday evening, your grandmas and grandpas and your uncle Dave, Aunt Michelle, and your cousins Ellie and Maddie joined our family of 4 at our church, St John's Episcopal Church to welcome you into the Episcopal church and be baptised in the name of Jesus.  What a perfect, wonderful evening we spent in the candlelight outside the church.  Your godparents, Lewis and Lindsay Cassada held you while you wiggled through the service and the warm evening breeze blew.

We took home a tired baby, who went right to sleep, and while you slept, the Easter bunny brought you and your sister your baskets.  You were pretty much oblivious to your easter bounty but your sister is still trying to understand that some things are "hers" and some things are "Baby Charlotte"s.. and soon you will start the great debating.  Right now, you could care less if she plays with your toys and books, which is nice.

Sunday during the day was warm and sunny, so we decided to skip the parade and have a lazy Sunday at the park.  It was great hanging out as a family.  We love you so, Charlotte.

-Mama.
