Merry Christmas, Charlotte!!
Your second Christmas was even sweeter than your first, even though our whole house was being attacked by the flu bug. Some of the gifts you got from Santa were some new shoes (size 5), which are your first sneakers. You got a Little Tykes Cozy Coupe car, lots of books, which of course you love.. You got a light up telephone, as we are trying to dissaude you from stealing the television remotes and walking around with them at every free chance, holding it to your chubby little cheeks saying "hello?". You are so funny- you have a farm puzzle that Grandma Sawyer gave you for your first birthday and you like to take out the pieces, put the handle in your mouth and suck on it like a pacifier. You got a set of bells from Santa and although you do ring them, you also put the handle in your mouth and blow on them like a trumpet. HA! You are such a funny baby.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Sweet Baby, on your second Thanksgiving I am so grateful for your sweet baby ways. I love to listen to your baby babble or watch your fluffy blond head whiz by me as you scoot on your knees to something that has caught your eye.

Choo Choo
You are saying some words, here and there. You most consistently say up and down, eat, moo, hi, ba bye, mama and dada of course. You baby babble constantly though.. you are an endless flow of baby conversation. You say "Dooo dood ooood doooo" most often.
I keep catching you walking by yourself and then falling to your knees when you notice somebody is watching you! HA! You have, however, mastered climbing the stairs, which as I get bigger and bigger with Henry, I am so very grateful for, but we have to be extra careful with gates because you are very fast and very sneaky!! This has resulted in quite a few bruises to the head.
You are totally off bottles now and drinking just from sippy cups, and you can drink from a straw, which is awfully nice in restaurants. You really do a great job of entertainign yourself and can play with just about anything and be perfectly content.
You are very ticklish! This is probably my favorite thing about you right now because you have the best laugh ever and it only takes a touch to make you feel tickled. You bust out laughing and curl up into a cute and cuddly mess. I love it. You are so cute, Baby Charlotte!!
You have started wearing shoes when we go out and in church, you're starting to sit with us until you've had enough instead of going straight to the nursery. You like the singing.
You really like fingerplays too and give me a big smile when you hear me sing Wheels on the Bus or one of our books that has music, like the Thomas the Tank Engine book.
We mailed a package to Uncle Cliff today. He is in Afghanistan and will be so happy to get our box. ok well now i've got 2 helpers helping me ty2pe2 2

A Reluctant Walker
Sweet Baby Charlotte,
You have taken up to 5 steps at a time, but I will say you are a reluctant walker. You CAN do it, it's just too much work, and walking on your knees seems to work just fine for you. I'm not going to push you. I know (or at least I hope) that someday you'll prefer walking on your feet. You'll get there when you are ready.
You have a bunch of new teeth and love carrots but have started showing some preference for what you'll eat and what you don't like. You are starting to put your cup on its bottominstead of throwing it, and will say "yay" and clap your little hands when you do it right. You are so cute!!!
We just got back from our mountain vacation and you had a great time hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Hatch. I love to watch you and your sister play together and can't believe I got so lucky to have two little girls who love each other so much and get along so well.
We celebrated your first birthday which I must say, you were a little overwhelmed, spending much of the day crying. You'll get the hang of them, baby girl. You are a snuggler lately which I am loving. You'll lay your little sweet smelling head on my shoulder and pat my back while I rub your back. So sweet.

My sweet Birthday Baby!!
10 days and counting until you are 1 year old!!
One year ago, you came into our world and for a year I've been blessed with your delightful laugh, your (so sweet!) great big smile, and ceaseless wonders that you bring. You are a perfect little baby. You have wispy blond hair, mischievous gray blue eyes, and a big smile. When you are happiest, you breathe in deep and croak a deep laugh.
At 11 months, you have been crawling for months, are captivated by small toys that you study in your tiny fists, and most enjoy watching and interacting with your big sister. You are a daddy's girl!! When daddy's in the room, you are all eyes for him! You are fond of music and will rock up and down on your knees to the beat. You still say "Dada" but not much else, although yesterday Daddy said that you were starting to talk to yourself,although I can't understand what you are saying.
My favorite things about you are your big laugh, your nearly toothless smile, and watching you race around the floor as you wildly crawl after somethign that catches your attention. You love playing in the toy kitchen. You love to open and close doors. You love the baby swing when we go to the park. You love seeing how close spiegel will let you get to him before he runds away. And you love to eat.
Sweet baby, you are a wonderful gift bestowed to us that have made me smile since the day you were born. September 12th, 2009 was destined to be a great day because of you.
I can't wait to watch you grow.

First Step!!
You took your first step on Friday night, Friday the 13th!! We were at a birthday party at Inflation Nation for Ethan Mann and you let go of daddy's hand to reach for mine and took one baby
step all on your own!

Squeals
Sweet Baby Girl,
You still are not talking, but you squeal with glee instead. You crawl very fast, and will "walk" while holding onto my fingers. You actually can pull onto things and stand by yourself for short periods.
Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Cliff and Candace came down last week for Ruby's birthday party and you had a wonderful time once you warmed up to everyone.

Update
The camera is MIA at the moment, but you are really crawling now. You sort of scoot on your belly and push with your feet, occasionally getting up on your knees, but instead of moving your thigh forward, you just belly flop forward and advance that way. I think this shows real ingenuity.

Crawling!!
Dear Baby Charlotte,
YOU ARE AMAZING!!! At just eight months, you have started crawling!!
Last week, you had started progressing from the army crawl to a full on wiggle. This week, there is no doubt.. you are mobile. Your style is a little unorthodox, you sort of start off on your belly, then get your little butt in the air and sort of jump forward, then drag your rear up. Think of how an inchworm moves and that's you!
You are such a pro in your walker that I had the repair/replace the inside of it where you sit. Granted it was a little worn, since we had also used it for Ruby, but you run around the house so fast that Daddy has to wear shoes now.

Water Babies
Yesterday you played in the pool with your sister. I don't care how tired you are, you always have a blast in the swimming pool.

Sweet Baby Charlotte,
Well after spending the majority of a very hot day outside at Katie's Playground, you are fast asleep in your crib. You had fun, and after the playground, enjoyed eating crackers at Cici's Pizza with Lisa Moran and Taylor.
You are in the stage of stranger anxiety, and today is the first day I really noticed it full tilt. When we were getting ready to go, you broke into full fledged sobbing tears when I put a yellow hat on to shield my face from the sun. You didn't recognize me with the hat!! I took it off, and you were fine. Later, my usually happy and easy going baby was a hot, cranky mess and wouldn't go to anyone but me. You were happy in spurts but were definately more cranky than usual.

Standing Up!!
Charlotte Sawyer,at less than 9 months, can now be called musical maestro and vertical champion. Observe.
And here are some of us just hanging out on a lazy Sunday.
Charlotte, my love! You have made such huge strides this month. You are now eating mostly solid food with formula to supplement. You can drink from a sippy cup with assistance wih holding it. You have two teeth! Yes, your two bottom front teeth have popped through, mercifully sparing you teething pain for the time being. You love water and being in the pool and seem to enjoy music. If we tap out a beat for you, you will try to repeat it back to us with your hands. You gurgle and laugh constantly and are very very fast in your walker, even playing "running games" with Ruby around the circular track of our first floor.
