How You Sleep
Both grandpa Hatch and Daddy have seen how you sleep, completely curled up sideways in the pink vibrating bouncy chair and said to me "That can't be good for her neck!"
I've tried readjusting, propping you up with rolled up blankets (not pillows because of the suffocation risk) and you just wriggle free into the same position. You seem happy enough sleeping all twisted up!
I suppose you slept that way in my belly and nobody ever noticed then, right?
Your First Thanksgiving
Dear Tiny Love of Mine,
We just celebrated your first Thanksgiving! Grandma and Grandpa Hatch drove to our house from their house in Fairfax and then we all went first to visit my mom's brother and your great uncle Mike and great Aunt Kathy, who live nearby. Your Great Aunt Jean and Great Uncle Pat were also there and it was their first time seeing you! Uncle Pat captured you and would not put you down! Who knew he was such a hit with babies?
After that, you were passed around and everybody kissed you and remarked how beautiful you are (of course!). Next, we went to dinner to eat with your Aunt Michelle's family. There you reunited with your cousins Ellie and Maddie and the four Sawyer girls stole the show. Ellie and Ruby played hide and go seek and Maddie "shopped" with her shopping cart around all the family conversing. You were passed around and kissed and squeezed until you passed right out.
Our last stop was to visit your daddy's Mom Betty's sister Aunt Dee and her friend and his family. There was another little boy there for Ruby to play with so everybody had a great time.
Out of all the blessings bestowed unto us this year, I thank God the most for you, little one. You bring so much joy into my life every day. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

10th week

Dear Charlotte,
You have started SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!
Oh, little one.. this makes your momma so proud! You're eating a lot and staying awake during the day a little bit, which is fun because we have started putting you in your baby gym for a daily workout. Sometimes you don't agree that this is the best idea, and promptly let me know, especially if your sister is trying to "help" you and wants to lie with you in your gym.
Your eyes are definately Lindenfelser blue, you lucky girl. Beautiful, crystal blue.
Your doing great at Grandma Diane's and I'm still breastfeeding you, so I just pump the day before so you're all stocked up for daycare. I love being able to do that for you- it's something no one else can do, and makes me feel so special and connected to you. I love to watch you drink your milk too. You work so hard and just stare and stare and stare right into my eyes.
You're asleep right now and you'll be up in an hour or so. I'd better go make your dinner!
This weekend we have out first long distance solo road trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house in Fairfax. Daddy will be at the Hokies game!! GO HOKIES!
Love, Your momma

2 months old
Sweet Baby,
You are 2 months old today! At 9 weeks old, we have established a great schedule. During the madness of the day you sleep most of the time while Ruby and I dance, sing, solve puzzles, play with her toys and deal with tantrums. You are very tolerant of her poking and fussing over you most of the time and generally sleep right on through it. When you do wake up, you open your sweet eyes, which are not crossed as much as they used to be and sometimes give us the cutest little smile when I smile at you!
You are really starting to ham it up, cooing and gaaing when I talk to you, especially when it's just us. Sometimes you cry just because you want to be held. You are very particular when it comes to paci's- we can't just give you any old paci. Oh no. The only one you like is the MAM 6 month sized paci. Not sure why this is.. Just one of the many many differences between you and your sweet sister.
Your eyes seem to be turning the same sparkling crystal blue that you share with your dad and with Ruby. You are so lucky! People are always commenting how beautiful those blue eyes are on Ruby and it's one of my favorite things about your dad, and one of the first things I noticed about him- his beautiful blue eyes.
Sometimes at night you sleep for 6 hours! Thank You, little one, for giving your mama a rest!
We just got back from your first vacation- we spent out anniversary in Blacksburg like we do most of the time. It's where your Daddy and I spent out honeymoon and it's close to where Dad went to school, Virginia Tech. He loves those Hokies, and I'm sure he will make you into his little recruit!
You're a big girl! You're already into Size 2 diapers and 3month sized clothes. Must be all that good milk your mommy makes for you. You're really filling out and getting to look more like a little baby as opposed to a skinny infant. My favorite part of your face is your little nose. It's just like mine, turned up at the end.
You were sleeping pretty much all day but now are starting to stay awake more. I started back to work last week and you spent your first days with the kids at Grandma Diane's and did beautifully. Daddy has his first whole day with you two tomorrow- hopefully you'll be nice and not too fussy for Daddy! He loves you so much and works so hard for all of us. Everyday when he leaves for work he says "Goodbye Mama.. Goodbye Ruby..Goodbye Charlotte".
Our nickname for you is "Squeaky Squirrel" or "Squeaks" because your cries sound like squeaks when you get really fired up.
This month you'll have your first Thanksgiving and then next month, your first Christmas. Our family has so much to be grateful for with you in our lives! Thank You God, for such a healthy, beautiful, wonderful little person as Charlotte Lucille Sawyer.

First Shots
Sweet Charlotte,
Yesterday was your 6 week check up and your (ouch!) first shots. You were so brave and only cried a little when you got them but you were definately sore for the rest of the day, so we tried to be gentle with you. We stopped and got you some Tylenol which seemed to make you feel a little better!
You are growing beautifully- You weighed 12 lbs, 5 oz!! This puts you at the 75th percentile for weight. You are 23 inches long and your head is 38 cm.
Love, Momma
